Rough and Final Building Inspections (New Construction or Renovation)

The Fire Dept. shall conduct inspections of any major renovations of buildings to assure compliance with many aspects of 527 CMR, MGL Ch. 148 and applicable NFPA codes.

Due to the magnitude that a renovation could involve it is best to contact the Fire Prevention Office with the specifics of your project to see what we would require of you.

Most inspections consist of a rough and final inspections. The rough inspection is conducted during the period of time that walls and ceilings have yet to be closed in. This allows the inspector to assure that the devices are located properly.

The final inspection is conducted at the conclusion of construction and consists of system testing and signing off on the building permit.
