The 2018 commitment of Motor Vehicle Tax bills have been mailed and will be due on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. If you had a car registered on January 1st of this year, you should receive a bill. If you do not receive a bill, please contact the Collector's office.
If you registered a car ofter October of 2017, please note that you may get two M.V. bills generated about the same time. Check the upper right hand corner of the bill for the tax year (it is clearly marked), so you do not mistake them as the same bill.
If you no longer own a vehicle for which you are billed, you must file an abatement application with the Assessor's office (978-874-7401). There is also important information printed on the back of your bill.
You can pay your bill at the Town Hall Collector Office Mon.-Thurs. 8:00-4:30 and Fri. 8:00-1:00. For after-hour convenience, we also have a locked drop box in the front door (do not leave cash).
Please Note: An application for abatement does not stay the collection of your Motor Vehicle Excise bill. Timely payments within thirty days of the date of issue will avoid all interest and other charges and fees. No abatement will be granted for less than $5.00, and no bill can reduce to less than $5.00.
