Annual Town Meeting and Election - Postponed due to COVID-19

Attention All Westminster Registered Voters

The Town election and Town Meeting have been further postponed to June 16 and June 20 respectively, due to the following reasons:
•    The State of Emergency declared by the Governor in executive order 591, Declaration of a State of Emergency to Respond to COVID-19, 
•    The subsequent orders closing most workplaces, 
•    The prohibition on gatherings of more than 10 people through May 18, 2020, 
•    The anticipated phased opening of private and public sector businesses, 
•    And after consultation with the Town Clerk and Town Moderator. 

The chosen dates are in keeping with the Town’s historic schedule of holding the election the Tuesday prior to Town Meeting.  We hope that these dates will allow enough time for things to return to a state of normalcy in order to gain attendance at the election and Town Meeting.  Finally, another special act of the legislature has greatly expanded the ability to early/absentee vote which will be publicized via our mailing and Code Red call.

At this time, the Annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday June 16, 2020 from 7am-8pm and the Annual Town Meeting will be held on Saturday June 20, 2020 at 1:00pm.
