Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.)

R.A.D. for Adult Women

The Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.) is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is NOT a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors and provide each student with a workbook / reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates.

  • A group of 11 women graduated the woman's R.A.D. Systems course on May 16, 2006. To date the Westminster Police Department had successfully graduated over 400 women through the program.
  • This is a great program for any young woman and older women alike. It is designed for people of all physical abilities and has been a life changing experience for some people who have gone through the program.
  • We currently have instructors trained in the Basic Self Defense, Advanced Self Defense and Key Chain Defense.

The Westminster Police Department is currently taking names for people in the upcoming class.

radKIDS for Children

The radKIDS Program is providing children with hope, options and practical skills to RECOGNIZE, AVOID and, if necessary, ESCAPE violence and abuse. Our advanced curriculum, based on accelerated learning theories, provides realistic safety plans and options enabling children to escape dangerous situations. Unlike many programs that show videos or tell children what to do, radKIDS actually shares plans and strategies, while practicing realistic physical skills to escape violence.

Through radKIDS training, children become EMPOWERED, learning to replace the fear, confusion and panic of dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills and self-esteem.

The Westminster Police Department graduated a group of the radKIDS program on May 6th. More classes will be starting soon.
