The Westminster Department of Public Works is Announcing the Start of the 2023 Roadway Resurfacing Program

2023 Roadway Resurfacing Program

The 2023 Roadway Resurfacing Program will encompass Bragg Hill Road from South Ashburnham Road to Barrel Road, Nichols Street, Ripley Road, Knower Road from Nichols Street to Carter Road, and Ellis Road from Nichols Street to the Country Club; and is anticipated to begin in the late summer and continue through the late fall. Our team will work as diligently as possible to complete the construction activities in a timely manner, however, it is important to remember that these activities are subject to weather and other unforeseen conditions that may arise.

It is anticipated that work will begin on Monday, September 11, 2023, on Bragg Hill Road. Bragg Hill Road will remain closed during construction with a detour in place. The work is scheduled to take place daily between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Barring no weather-related impacts or unforeseen conditions, it is anticipated that the work will take approximately two (2) days to reclaim, grade, and compact the surface for future paving. Paving will be scheduled right after reclamation and a subsequent notification will be posted on the Westminster DPW Facebook Page.

Following the work on Bragg Hill Road, construction crews will relocate to Ripley Road and Knower Road and begin the reclamation and paving process. Knower Road will be closed, and a detour will be implemented, and traffic will be routed to Carter Road from Carter Road to Ellis Road or South Street. Grading, compaction and preparing for asphalt will take place in the first phase of work. It is anticipated that this work will be completed by Friday, September 15, 2023; a notification will be issued once the paving has been scheduled.

It is anticipated that Nichols Street and a section of Ellis Road will be milled, and a leveling course of asphalt will be installed to coincide with the work on Knower Road and Ripley Road. All manholes, basins, and water and gas gates will be adjusted after leveling the road, and new asphalt curbing installed on Nichols Street. Following the raising of structures and the leveling of the road, a supplemental notification will be issued once pavement has been scheduled.

Please expect delays and use caution while traveling through the construction work zone, as well as the detours. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while construction activities are underway.
