Summer Water Main Flushing

The Water Department will be conducting town-wide water main flushing throughout Westminster over the next two weeks. The work is scheduled to be performed between July 29, 2019 and August 9, 2019. Water main flushing will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The purpose of the water main flushing is to improve drinking water quality for residents and businesses in Town.

The flushing of hydrants is a critical process that removes sediment buildup in the pipes and helps to optimize our water quality. It also helps us conduct inspections of the hydrants for fire protection. The flushing may result in temporary discoloration of the water, caused by small particles dislodged during the flushing as well as possible reduction in pressure. We recommend restricting water usage during the flushing period.

The discoloration of the water will be temporary and is not harmful. If the condition persists, please contact the Westminster Water Department at 978-874-5572. The Water Department appreciates your patience as it makes every effort to ensure that the water delivered to your home and business is clean, safe and free of contamination.
