Crocker Pond - Delayed Beach Opening

sign

As a result of the ongoing investigation of PFAS contamination detected in nearby upgradient water wells and an upstream tributary, the Town has delayed the beach opening for swimming at Crocker Pond out of an abundance of caution until an assessment of the pond water quality can be completed. This work is being performed following protocols prescribed by the Department of Public Health, and may take a couple of weeks to complete.

At this time, the pond is open to boating, and the trails, picnic area, and beach activities (including volleyball, bocce and the playground) will remain open during regularly scheduled park hours. However, the water is closed to swimming. Please note that recent sampling did not detect PFAS in the public water supply well at the Pond.

Thank you for your patience while we navigate this difficult situation, and we hope to see you at the pond soon!
