Solid Waste Drop-off Center Waste Oil Tank is Currently Offline Until Further Notice

Waste Oil Only

The waste oil tank at the Solid Waste Drop-off Center is currently offline until further notice. Something other than waste oil was recently put into the oil tank at the Solid Waste Drop-off Center, resulting in a batch of non-conformal waste oil. At this time, this incident will result in the closing of the tank and costs associated to remove and manage the liquid and then clean the tank. Contaminants that are disposed of in the waste oil tank ultimately will trigger the facility to become a large quantity generator of hazardous waste which comes with costs due to more regulatory requirements.

The waste oil tank is ONLY for used waste oil, and waste oil should be placed in containers which that oil came from.

Safe management and disposal of waste oil protects not just drinking water, fish, and land, but also you and your family. The EPA has more basic information for handling used oil at home. Should you have any questions, please contact the Department of Public Works at (978) 874-5572.
