Roadway Paving & Resurfacing Operations are Scheduled to Begin on Tuesday, April 19, 2022

The Town of Westminster Department of Public Works will be busy in the next few weeks preparing streets for resurfacing. Below is the listing of the work zones, so you can plan accordingly. Beginning next Tuesday, April 19, 2022, the DPW will start a milling operation on Newton Road. Construction activities are anticipated to last most of the morning before shifting on to Worcester Road. Please note, the DPW will keep the roadway open one lane at a time during milling, delays are to be expected, and as always, please be careful while driving through our work zones. Safety is key.  

Milling will continue on Worcester Road from RTE 140 to the Leominster Street intersection, and then Leominster Street will be milled. A milled road surface can be driven on immediately after the work is done, however, please avoid manholes which will be protruding up which can damage tires. The roadways will be posted with signage and the raised manholes will be painted for public safety. Milling will continue up until Friday, April 22, 2022, and time permitting, we will attempt to mill the section of Town Farm Road where water main was installed last fall. The Westminster DPW is overseeing the Town’s contractor, who installed the water main with the paving and restoration of the road. 

A schedule is being developed with the Paving Contractor for the following week to pave the roadways. Updates will be posted as we draw closer to estimated paving dates, the paving process is highly weather dependent. 

This season will be busy for the DPW on the roadways. Crews have been working on several drainage projects and making repairs to many of our catch basins and prior to the paving season kicking off. The following streets are receiving resurfacing treatments this spring: 

• Newton Road  
• Knower Road from Minott Road to the Town-line 
• Worcester Road 
• Leominster Road 
• Mile Hill Road  
• Bolton Road 
• Newcomb Road
